Do you ever stop and think about eternity? As a follower of Jesus Christ I look forward to the day when I will leave this earth and join my Lord in His Kingdom. When my burden seems more than I can bear it encourages me to know that my assignment here is only temporary. It’s to that day when I will join my Lord that I press towards.

It seems that life is passing me by at the speed of light these days. Monday blurs into Friday and problems come and go. As I grow older I realize that the only constant thing that I have as I pass through time is the council and wisdom that I receive while reading my Bible and talking with God. His Word gives me peace, makes me strong and gives me eternal perspective.

When I listen to God rather than the voices of men things also become much clearer. I give up my desire to run in a worldly race that cannot be won, in order to receive and cherish a gift that no one can ever take away from me- the free gift of eternal life.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the joy and promise of eternal life that you have put before me. Thank you for knowing me, for understanding me, and for still loving me. How I long to be with you in paradise. Until that day comes Lord, please have your way with me and lead me patiently through this life as your child.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24

Living Hope, 1 Peter 1:3-9 VerseVisions

Do you need a message of hope today? Does it seem that things have fallen apart and you are hopelessly lost and helpless to make things better? I know that feeling. I think at these dark times in our lives we all seek a word of hope to encourage our souls.

The good news is that the Word of God gives us hope that can be found in no other place. The Bible shows us that there is no such thing as a hopeless problem or situation. No incurable illness, no impossible situation, no forever-broken relationship. God is the repairman of hopelessness- nothing is too difficult for Him to fix; no problem is beyond His reach.

Once we turn our lives over to Jesus we become children of God. Is there anything that a loving parent would not do for a hurting child? Being adopted by God means that the once dead are alive, the abandoned are unconditionally loved, and the hopeless have no reason to fear.

To have hope is to be able to look forward to the future with the absolute assurance of victory. A wonderful heavenly inheritance awaits God’s children-

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:3-9 Take hope by brothers and sisters in Jesus. No matter how dark the path or how impossible the circumstances; God is always in control. He did not promise that our time in this world would be easy. He did promise that He would always be with us until He returns to take to our eternal home that is being prepared in heaven. Take hope, God always honors His Word!

The Bible instructs us to teach God’s words diligently to our children so that they will have a foundation of truth in their hearts throughout their lives.

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6: 5-9

The Loved Letters collection combines some of my favorite verses in a fun and memorable letters of the alphabet arrangement. Each Loved Letter of the alphabet begins a memorable and powerful verse from the Word of God. I read recently that the older a person gets, the less likely they are to accept the salvation of the gospel. It is important that we share our faith with children early and often in their lives.

As a parent I am so amazed at how curious our five year old son is about God. I enjoy reading to him and answering his questions about heaven and Jesus. We have an incredible responsibility and opportunity to teach our children about God and His love. Letter by letter, each picture in the Loved Letters collection communicates a timeless truth from God’s word.

As the scripture above instructs, we are to teach His words to our children, continually talk about them, and surround our homes with God’s eternal words. As these words supernaturally grow in our children’s hearts, we will be placing them on the only true path of peace, security and eternal life in Jesus Christ. A heart full of God’s truth; there is no better gift to give.

Believe in the promises of God. Know in the depth of your heart that you can trust God to be true to what He had promised and bring you through your troubles. As a child of Jesus Christ there is absolutely nothing that can occur in our lives that God has not promised to see us through.

God is always there to help us when we cannot help ourselves. He is mighty on our behalf. God never sleeps as He watches over us, and no trouble that comes our way can catch Him off guard. Once we accept Christ as our Savior, God is with us, ready to love and help us in our time of need. We have His promise on that!

Blessed of God, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”. Ephesians 1:3

Does it seem like God has you in a place of waiting right now? I sure feel like that is exactly where I am. As I look around at my circumstances everything inside me tells me that I need to take control, get out in front and make something happen. Yet I’ve learned from my past experience that when I try to take control, things always inevitable wind up worse.

Waiting is something that just does not come naturally for me. Yet, as I read the Bible I see that God really considers the waiting process important. I remember when I could not wait to get older, then to get out of college and get married, then to be self-employed so I could make my millions and then retire. Nope, I’m not a millionaire, and I gave up on being self employed a long time ago- I was a terrible boss!

While I wait on the Lord to rescue me from the latest round of crisis in my life it is reassuring to remember how God has faithfully delivered me from similar circumstances in the past. The Bible is full of stories where we can see how God worked throughout people’s lives to rescue them from crisis. In fact, it is almost hard to find an important person in the Bible that God didn’t teach to wait.

Noah waited many years to see the promised flood waters, Abraham and Sarah waited until they were more than 100 years old to become parents to Isaac, David waited 15 years from the time he was anointed the King to obtain the crown, and let’s don’t forget the patient waiting and endurance of Job, Joseph and Jacob.

Thank you Lord God, for teaching me that You alone are the source of my life, my hope and my joy. Help me to live my life one day at a time- fully dependant upon You.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear

Peter wrote these words to Christians who were going through tremendous suffering and persecution. He wanted them to be aware that there will be times when they will be asked about their faith and commitment. As Christians we are witnesses and ambassadors for Christ here on the earth.

If we lift up Jesus in our lives people around us will see a visible and peaceful difference in how we deal and cope in difficult times. By lifting up Jesus Christ as our source of hope and strength, others will naturally be drawn to Him.

People around us will ask, “How are you holding together through this tough time”? In other words, what is the source of your hope in a hopeless situation?

Peter was talking about a hope and a trust that is based in a unwavering belief in a future expectation of God delivering you. Peter is not talking about hoping in yourself to figure out a solution to overwhelming problems. When we are obedient to God and place our lives and faith in Jesus Christ, we know that God has assumed responsibility for us as His adopted children.

In 1 Peter 3:15 Peter is talking about supernatural hope in an all-knowing and all-powerful heavenly Father. If you have this hope people are going to be attracted to it; be sure that in awe and humility you can share it with a lost and seeking world. When words fail us, all we need to do is point to the cross; it’s all about Jesus!
